Jayden Ursulak

Veterinary Assistant

Jayden joined the Cypress View Team in August of 2017 and has a passion for small animals and exotics.

In 2011 Jayden got her faithful kitten companion Apollo (who shares the same birthday as her!) and has been bringing him to Cypress View Vet ever since.

In 2015 she adopted a Blue Tongue Skink she named Gavin, through Persian Dreams and Canine Themes Rescue. 

In the near future, Jayden hopes to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Alyssa Froese

Veterinary Assistant

Alyssa was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, but has lived in Brooks, Alberta since she was five. She has always had an enormous passion for animals, and since graduating from high school, has been working toward gaining admission to veterinary school.

In 2016, Alyssa obtained a bachelor of science degree in zoology from the University of Calgary and is now completing the online AHT program through Olds College. In the summer of 2017 she moved to Medicine Hat to work as a veterinary assistant at Cypress View Veterinary Clinic where she is enjoying learning new skills every day and being a part of the clinic’s friendly and supportive team.

In her spare time, Alyssa enjoys reading, writing, photography, and spending time with her twin sister. She does not have any pets of her own at this point, but someday she hopes to adopt a Border collie and many other animals.

Suzanne Koenig

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Suzanne is a graduate from Fairview College in Animal Health Technology and since graduating in 2000, has worked in lots of aspects of animal health including Pet Stores, the SPCA, and in Veterinary Clinics. Suzanne is comfortable working with a range of animals from sheep, dogs and cats, to small birds and exotics.

Suzanne enjoys raising her family on their farm outside of Medicine Hat, and that alone keeps her very busy outside of the clinic.

Suzanne looks forward to meeting owners and their pets at Cypress View, and enjoys helping pet owners with their pet’s care so that they can live a long, and healthy life together.

Tammy Duggan

Office Manager

Tammy began work at Cypress View back in 1984, and since that time she has seen a lot of changes! Tammy began scrubbing pens, kennels, and floors. She quickly moved to the front desk and put to use the office and accounting skills she learned while attending Medicine Hat College. Currently, she is Director of Administration; her main focus is overseeing the general administration needs of the clinic including schedules and accounting.  Tammy has a really unique cat named Spoon who spends more time lounging on his back then he does on his feet. 

Tammy has been an integral part in our new partnership with the VPS management team, she is working hard at making our clinic run smoother for a better employee and client experience.   Tammy enjoys spending her spare time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Mariah and Evan.

Doris Volk

Receptionist

Doris has spent her entire life in Medicine Hat. She joined Cypress View with Dr.Rose in 1996 as a receptionist. Currently Doris is the Director of Technical Services.  Doris says she loves her job, as every day is an adventure, never knowing what may come in the door, but knowing we will be prepared to deal with it! She loves the feeling of sending a pet home with their owner after a serious illness or injury, knowing how happy this makes the owner.  Doris shares her home with a young border collie cross lovingly refereed to as “farty Marty”.   In her spare time, she enjoys walking, shopping, and spending time with her four beautiful grandchildren.  And for all those treat loving pets, make sure they ask Doris for a cookie, she encourages them all to come say hi for a cookie to make their visit to us even happier.

Kerry Knowles

Receptionist

Kerry joined the Cypress View Team in April 2017 and is loving meeting all of the animals and their owners coming into the clinic.

Kerry is originally from England and has lived and worked in over four different countries due to her husbands job in the British Army. Kerry and her husband have settled down in Medicine Hat now for four years. Kerry shares her home  with her husband ( Phil), three sons, two Siberian Huskies (Loki and Cody), and a Boston Terrier named Yoda.

In her spare time Kerry likes to help her husband renovate their house, bake, sew, and read.

Debbie Tappmeyer

Administrative Assistant

Debbie joined the Cypress View team in November of 2015.  For the past 36 years she has been in the accounting and legal world, Debbie took a leap of faith into the veterinary world when an opportunity to transition from client to coworker presented itself and she has settled in despite the learning curve .   Debbie is originally from Robsart/Consul Saskatchewan and brings to us her experience in accounting and a Business Admin Degree.  Debbie is very involved in our community and was a Big Sister for 15 years and even boasted the title of best Big Sister of the Year in 2007.  She also enjoys track and fastball participating as a coach for 11 years.  Debbie and her husband Juergen spend their home time camping, visiting garage sales, gardening and loving on the furkids.  Its not only the furry variety that holds a special place in Debbies’ big heart; her 97 year young Grams is a rock in her life whom she talks to every day.  Three lucky furry boys call Debbie mom, Dino, Fidel, and Kiesel.  Dino is the showboat of the house and says his prayers, rolls over and plays dead.  Kiesel whom was adopted at 9 has learned how to play with toys also how to give high fives.   All three boys are very dedicated to oral health and Debbie calls them for toothpaste every night and they all come running to have their teeth treated with Oratene.  Debbie has settled in and is fighting Dawn for her place here in the clinic as resident puppy snuggler.  Be careful if you have a new cute addition Debbie may just steal him or her for some snuggles and love.

Dale Holmes

Registered Veterinary Technologist, Inventory Manager

Dale was born and raised in Tisdale, Saskatchewan. He obtained a degree in Biology from the University of Saskatchewan in 1989. It was at this time that Dale met his future wife Lisa. They moved to Edmonton, Alberta, where Dale studied Animal Health Technology at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, graduating in 1993. Dale has been at Cypress View Veterinary Clinic since 1997 and is currently the director of inventory and maintenance.

A cat lover, he has a lovely feline friend named Molly as well as several caged birds and fish.  Molly entered Dale and Lisa’s life after being found in a campground after being abandoned.  Dale is an avid birdwatcher and also a music fan, enjoying a wide variety of genres.

Rayleen Valentine

Registered Veterinary Technologist, Certified Canine Rehabilitation Assistant, Director of Medical Services

Rayleen’s interest in veterinary medicine began at an early age on her grandparents’ farm. Her first introduction into the workforce was as a kennel attendant at a veterinary clinic. After that experience, she pursued a career in Animal Health Technology, receiving her diploma from Lakeland College in 2001. After graduation, she worked at a clinic in her hometown of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, before her career path led her to Medicine Hat and Cypress View Veterinary Clinic in 2005.

Rayleen enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine; however, she especially enjoys rehabilitation, patient nursing care and laboratory diagnostics. Continuing education is important to her, as she strives to provide quality care to all of her patients. Rayleen spends her time off enjoying family life with her children Cash and Lauren, husband Cory, and her dog, Scout.

Melody Hubich

Registered Veterinary Technologist, Certified Canine Rehabilitation Assistant

Melody, originally from Saskatchewan, joined Cypress View in 2007.  She has enjoyed a rewarding career as a Registered Vet Tech for over 20 years.  In 2014 Melody became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Technician.  With a strong interest in working dogs, she hopes to help keep these dogs in tip-top shape with her rehabilitation skills! Melody spends her time off with her husband and daughter, being active, playing basketball and softball, and watching Saskatchewan Roughrider football!

Marena Goehring

Registered Veterinary Technologist, Director of Public Contact

Marena was born in Saanichton, British Columbia and moved to Medicine Hat when she was three. She always new she was going to work with animals and has been employed in the animal care field starting at the age of 14. Marena started working at Cypress View in the summer of 2008 and returned to complete her practicum here in 2009. After graduating with a diploma in Animal Health Technology from Olds College in 2009, she accepted a full time position at Cypress View. In her spare time Marena can often be found baking an elaborate cake or making a Pinterest project and this has earned her the nickname “Martha” at work.  She looks forward to the Medicine Hat Stampede annual Store Decorating competition to create an outstanding and memorable display for the judges. She shares her home with her husband Tyler, daughter Mila and their dog Cash.  Cash a mastiff cross and is a very sensitive dog. He counts on his mom for emotional support if the wind blows too hard or husband is hurting the house (renovating).

Kaitlyn Kopchiak

Registered Veterinary Technologist, Volunteer Coordinator

Kaitlyn’s love of animals started in the mountains of Fernie B.C, growing up enjoying the outdoors. After giving into the addiction of horses upon moving to Medicine Hat with her family, Kaitlyn decided that working with animals was for her. Kaitlyn attended Olds College and graduated with a diploma in Animal Health Technology 2011. She completed her college practicum at Cypress View and later joined our team in 2012.

Kaitlyn spends most of her free time teaching horseback riding lessons as well as competing with her 2 horses in the jumping circuit.  She has recently become a certified teacher through the CHA and E.C.   Kaitlyn also enjoys the company of her chocolate lab, Bailey.

Angela Lewis

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Angela joined the Cypress View team as a registered animal health technician in 2013 after completing her practicum with us.  Angela knew from a young age that she wanted to work with animals, this stemmed from her upbringing on a farm riddled with animals of all types in Kyle, SK.   Angela has recently welcomed her own border collie baby into the house named Hoss, named after a character on Bonanza. Hoss has been training in working sheep in hopes to compete in stock dog trials.  In her spare time Angela enjoys archery, kayaking, hiking, volleyball, and horseback riding.

Tracey Jamieson

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Tracey grew up on an acreage outside of Red Deer, AB before moving to an acreage in Kelvington, SK. She was always surrounded with all kinds of animals from guinea pigs, rabbits and geckos to pigs, cows and horses. Her family had a special passion for rescuing and fostering both dogs and cats and trying to find them new forever homes. Those that were too troubled to be adopted became part of their forever family.

Tracey and her fiancé Dalton, have three dogs named Ziva, Lexi, and Thistle as well as a cat named Gemini. Tracey attended Olds College and graduated with a diploma in Animal Health Technology in 2013. She completed her practicum and worked the summer at a clinic in Red Deer with strong interest in exotic medicine before moving to Lethbridge.Tracey completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Lethbridge while working in a small animal emergency clinic for three years.

Tracey joined the Cypress View Team after graduating from the U of L in 2016. In her free time she enjoys taking her dogs for walks, baking/cooking, board games and travelling.

Colleen Giesbrecht

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Colleen was raised on an acreage by Seven Persons where her love of animals began with making friends with the various animals such as the barn kitties, horses, 4-H steers, sheep and dogs.  Although she moved into Medicine Hat with her husband Caleb, she still visits the acreage weekly to spend time with her parents and pets.  

Colleen and her husband fell in love with a pup from the SPCA and named her Yotee (short for coyote!) in the summer of 2016. Yotee loves long morning and evening walks, digging in dirt piles, counter surfing for food, and are trying their teamwork skills in agility and want to try other socialization activities in the future.

After high school, Colleen went to the Medicine Hat College where she received a diploma in Business Administration majoring in Accounting.  Although she enjoyed accounting, she knew in her heart working with animals is what she wanted to do.  Graduating Olds College in 2013 in Animal Health Technology, she is right where she wants to be and joined the awesome Cypress View team in September 2015.

Kelly Heidrick

Registered Veterinary Technologist

Kelly has been part of the Cypress View team since 2014.  She started as a volunteer and worked at our clinic while completing her Animal Health Technology diploma at the Old’s College distance program.  Kelly successfully completed her veterinary technologist registration in 2017. Kelly is a integral part of our care team already and can be found making sure pets are comfortable and cozy after surgery and getting them ready to go home looking and feeling better than they did when they arrived.  Kelly is originally from Medicine Hat and shares her home with her dog Sookie.  Kelly has taught Sookie how to “Baby Speak” which means a quiet bark in exchange for a cookie or pet.
