A good job in a great vet clinic in a perfect location.

Why did you become a veterinarian?
I wanted to combine my love of animals with my desire to study sciences.

I love the size of the city and all the walking paths.

Why do you love veterinary medicine?
For the challenges and the satisfaction of succeeding with difficult cases.

What are your hobbies?
Horseback riding, painting and travel.

Do you have any pets?
Two dogs and two cats.

What languages do you speak?

What would make you a valuable team member during a zombie apocalypse?
I am a great team player with all the necessary medical skills.

Why did you become a veterinarian?
So I could play with puppies and kitties all day!

Why do you love Medicine Hat?
The snow in September.

What are your special interests in veterinary medicine?
I love performing neuters and bladder stone removals.

Why do you love veterinary medicine?
I love being a part of people's families. Growing with them and their pets and helping through the sad days or celebrating when their pets get better. I also love to neuter things.

What are your hobbies?
Horse jumping and riding and running.

Do you have any pets?
4 BIG dogs.

What languages do you speak?
English and Newfie.

What would make you a valuable team member during a zombie apocalypse?
I could neuter them to stop them from procreating, if that is how it works.
Dr. Axel De Baene
Veterinarian
Dr. De Baene was born and raised in Brugges, Belgium. He graduated as a veterinarian from the University of Gent in 1999. In 2006 he immigrated to Canada, and spent three years working in a veterinary clinic in Fort MacMurray. He moved with his family to Medicine Hat in November 2009.

Axel’s interests include music, computers, trap shooting, and Belgian Draft horses. He has a male cat named Molly and a dog named Ellie. Dr. De Baene enjoys puppy and kitten appointments, surgery (especially orthopedics) and diagnostic ultrasound here at Cypress View.

What brought you to Medicine Hat?
I came here to learn English in high school. I met some amazing people and decided to challenge myself by working in English and a job opportunity presented itself.

Why did you become a veterinarian?
It was my dream as long as I can remember.

What are your special interests in veterinary medicine?
Soft tissue surgery, rehabilitation and ultrasound.

What do you love about Medicine Hat?
All of the parks.

Why do you love veterinary medicine?
Because we do everything (ie Pharmacy, dental, surgery, internal medicine, etc.)

What are your hobbies?
Hiking, camping, reading and scuba diving.

2 cats.

I love sunny places and I read that Medicine Hat is the sunniest city in Canada!

Why did you become a veterinarian?
I love animals and love helping them. I also find veterinary medicine very interesting.

It is child friendly, there are many parks and it is a quiet city.

What are your special interests in veterinary medicine?
I love performing surgeries!

Every day you see something new and there's always lots to learn.

Playing with my baby, Jaison. I like doing anything he likes to do!

Why did you become a veterinarian?
It has always been my dream since I was a little boy. Helping our little brothers is more than a dream come true, it is my passion.

What brought you to Medicine Hat?
We moved from Chile in 2019. I wanted to live in a place that my family and I could settle down and put in some roots. Medicine Hat looked perfect for what my family required which I believe is the best decision we have ever made.

What are your special interests in veterinary medicine?
I love surgeries and dentals.

What do you love about Medicine Hat?
The tranquility and the people being so friendly and helpful.

Why do you love veterinary medicine?
I want to help all species of animals, helping them to have the best possible life.

What are your hobbies?
Camping, basketball and soccer (football).

Back in Chile, I had 2 senior poodles.

I know the guy who sells cheap brains.
