Whats going on at CVVC?
It has been a while since we have shared what we have going on here at CVVC! On top of striving to provide amazing standard of care for our patients and clients and working with our clients on providing Spectrum of Care to remain cost conscious, here are some cool things that we have going on:
- We are still locally, privately owned. We still find that people may be confused or misinformed that we are possibly corporate owned. Dr Mason and Dr Rowe own the whole clinic. Next year marks our 50th anniversary in Medicine Hat and we are proud to serve our community. Vet care sure has changed in the last 50 years!
- We are so happy to say that we are fully staffed and have lots of availability to help your pet. We are currently offering same day medical appointments for new and returning clients. Why wait to get your pet the help they need?
- Evening vaccination appointments and extended shopping hours Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7pm.
- Our techs have taken additional training to provide tech-led appointments. Under the guidance of our doctors, techs provide appointments for vaccines, injections, anal gland expression, nail trims, bandaging, and so much more. If you don’t need to see a vet, see a tech! Their availability is great and there is a cost difference.
- Exotics! Dr Rad and the team can treat your small mammals, sugar gliders, reptiles, snakes and tortoises! If you need help with an illness, husbandry or nutrition questions or some surgical procedures, we can help. If it is time to say goodbye to a different type of exotic pet, we may be able to help.
- Rehabilitation for your pets. Whether it is to reduce pain, manage arthritis, lose weight, or so much more, our team can help rehab your pet! Although we are losing Brianna, Tracey and Dr Latimer are prepared to take over our rehab patients and grow our rehabilitation department.
- At home appointments with vets or techs. Anything we can do in clinic, we can do at your home, except for sedated procedures or surgery. Don’t want to leave your house, we completely understand!
- At home diabetes management. Hate taking your diabetic cat or dog to the vet for their glucose curves, we can coach you on how to do it at home. We find the results are more reliable than doing it in clinic because it is less stressful.
- At home euthanasia appointments. Say goodbye to your furry loved one in the comfort of your home.
- If home isn’t where you want to be for your final goodbye, we have a beautiful, private comfort room that we can provide for your pet’s last visit to us. It offers a private entrance and comfy, homey atmosphere. We also have a few comfort items that you can take, a bottle of water, tissues, and treats for your pets. Even chocolate kisses for your dogs. Every dog should taste chocolate before they go.
- CVVC offers a robust support staff for our veterinarians. We feel this leads to effective utilization of all staff members, with the goal of providing you with thoughtful, efficient service for your pet.
- Food decisions are so important to the health of your pet. Suzanne is our nutritional consultant and the go-to person to answer any nutritional questions you might have. She also does an amazing job with our diabetic patients.
- Kelly has been managing a lot of our palliative care patients. If your pet is in the last stages of life due to age or illness, Kelly can work with you to make your pet as comfortable as possible.
- We still have shared on call with Horizon Vet! It has been a great relationship. This allows both clinics to be able to step away from the obligations of out-of-hour care to provide more work-life balance to the veterinarians that veterinarians in other centers get to experience.
- We self-host our own online store. This way we can offer in-house customer service. Next day deliver on most items delivered safely to our business. This provides the best shopping experience for so many pet products that we know and trust!
- We truly believe that providing Spectrum of Care is the future of vet med. Instead of expecting our pet owners to provide the Gold Standard of Care (this can be very expensive), our veterinarians work with our pet owners to decide together what is the best course of action for their pet. Spectrum of Care relies on building a trusting relationship with veterinary care providers that will offer all the options and collectively decide on the best course of care for their pet. There are many deciding factors that contribute to these decisions including financial obligations, the best interest of the client and the patient, and quality of life for the patient and owner as well.
We love providing care to your beloved pets. They are why we come to work everyday! Please let us know how we can expand our services to help you better. We are always looking for ways to grow! Feel free to drop us a line at careteam@cypressviewvet.ca
